This week Anissa Aida kicks off Berlin Fashion Week with a live presentation of her featured Elephantasia pieces and the rest of her F/W 17 collection. The collection will showcase next month at London and Paris Fashion Week. Follow the movement live!

As always, her piece is uniquely inspired by elephants….

“My piece is inspired by the ears and texture of elephants. The center body of the garment expresses the elephants skin, irregularly textured and gray. It is framed by the two ears which are oversized shoulders.”

In the making of this piece, Anissa created five iterations of her design before curating the final piece as a part of her collection presented this week during Berlin Fashion Week.

BEHIND THE SCENES: THE SIGNATURE WHITE STRIPE

The white stripe is symbolic of the native cultures who lived in harmony with African elephants for decades. 

BIO: MEET ANISSA AIDA

Anissa was born in July 1993 in Paris. She grew up in Tunis Tunisia until the age of eight years old, when her family moved back to Paris. At this young age, she already knew she wanted to become a Fashion Designer.

In Paris, in parallel to her schooling, she attended the Workshop of the Carrousel du Louvre, where she acquired the basic skills of academic drawing. She moved to Tampa, Florida her senior year of high school.

She was then admitted to Parsons, The New School in New York City, one of the best design schools in the world. In May 2015 she graduated with a BFA of Fashion Design, Womenswear. During her third year of college, Anissa studied abroad at both Parsons, in Paris and at the very prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design in the United Kingdom.
