Tomorrow, July 31st, is World Ranger Day! We take this time to reflect on the incredible work rangers across the world do for animals and their habitats. They are planetary health workers, those who protect the earth’s health. Many have sacrificed their lives to protect wildlife on the frontlines of conservation.

You can support by taking your words to social media! The Thin Green Line Foundation is working together with the International Ranger Federation to raise money and awareness for this cause. At the Thin Green Line Foundation website, you can find downloadable resource kits that include pictures you can post and hashtags you can caption with. The link is here: https://thingreenline.org.au/our-projects-2/world-ranger-day/

We must also pay tribute to the rangers who have laid their lives to protect the earth’s creatures and their homes. The Thin Green Line website includes a Ranger Honor Roll to commemorate the names of our courageous rangers. Please check it out as an opportunity to honor those who protected our planet over the past decade.

The theme of this year’s World Ranger Day is “Ranger Wellbeing”. While rangers conserve around 15% of inland water resources to support the lives of civilians, more than half of all rangers themselves do not have access to running water or clean water in general. Let’s all do our part in conserving Earth by protecting our rangers!
